Empty Grave

If you are like me, you may have conflated the terms and concepts “resurrection” and “salvation.” As children we are taught good people who die go to heaven. Bad people either remain dead, exist in a state of nothingness (eternally separated from God?), or go to “h-e-double-toothpicks.” (Like I said, when we were kids…)

The Bible tells us what actually awaits us, in Acts 24:15 Luke writes “There shall certainly be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.” And after resurrection of all, John 5:28-29 says, “For an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.”

The Scriptural teaching in Matthew 10:28, says that for those who reject the gospel, hell involves both spiritual and physical anguish: “And do not fear those who kill the body, but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” So, is it true that everyone will be resurrected?

Conclusion: True! Everyone will be resurrected and judged by their creator. All of us would be found guilty and sentenced to a just and everlasting punishment, had it not been for a loving God who spares those who believe in and accept God’s free give of salvation, courtesy of his Son, Jesus Christ.
